Kean Slaters (Dundee) Ltd have moved into
their new offices and yard at Heron Lane, Lochee. Creating greatly
enhanced facilities for all employees and opportunities to improve
customer service through up to date information systems. Larger
storage and mechanical handling facilities will also assist in improving
on the company's already established reputation for quality and
reliability.
The company has successfully built up a
reputation over the past twenty years for quality work and only
employ time served craftsmen. The founder of the company Charlie
Kean was one of the first people in Tayside to start with the assistance
of the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT). He started
working with his father Charlie Kean Senior, also a Master Slater,
who taught him the skills of the trade before branching out on his
own.
Twenty years later the company has also
grown into one of the largest roofing company's in Tayside and still
has a 24 hour emergency call out service covering Dundee, Perth,
Fife and Tayside. During this period the company has also picked
up it's fair share of awards being voted the Scottish Roofing Contractor
of the Year and recognition for its ornate slating work on buildings
such as Bank of Scotland, Pitlochry Dundee Crematorium etc.

The company undertakes a wide range of roofing
work from cleaning out and replacing house rhones to completely
re roofing houses, also carrying out contract maintenance work on
factory and church buildings, and larger types of industrial type
contracts. The company employ various methods of reporting on problem
areas for clients such as submitting photographic evidence when
necessary. Quality control procedures such as Risk Assessments and
Hazards and Method Statements are also a regular feature of customer
service offered by the company.
The company is registered member of Scottish
Building and also the only registered member in Dundee of Scottish
Master Slaters. Additionally, the company is also registered with
SEPA and CITB. More recently and to promote the quality aspects
of the business the company has joined the Dundee Trusted Traders
scheme primarily set up to independently assess the work of companies
and weed out the "Cowboys". A recent report from the independent
trading standards survey carried out by Dundee Trading Standards
indicated that customer satisfaction with the service provided by
Kean Slaters was overall 98.5%.
